Pelka: 'We know what the problems are' - Coventry Council

Children's services in Coventry - in the spotlight since four-year-old Daniel Pelka's death - have been branded "inadequate" by Ofsted.

Brian Walsh, the city council's executive director of people, said a children's board was being set up to ensure improvements were implemented.

Mr Walsh said there had been a huge rise in the number of children referred for social care, which has led to unprecedented demands.
