A mother and son have appeared at the Old Bailey on terrorism charges related to the civil war in Syria.

Gerrie Tahari, 44, and Mouloud Tahari, 20, from Sparkhill in Birmingham, are accused of funding terrorism overseas.

Both were granted bail with conditions, including an overnight curfew and the removal of their passports.

Former Guantanamo Bay detainee Moazzam Begg was arrested as part of the same West Midlands Police operation and will go on trial in October.

Mr Begg, 45, of Hall Green, Birmingham denies the charges of providing instruction or training for terrorism and funding terrorism overseas.

A provisional trial date for Ms and Mr Tahari has been set for August.

West Midlands Police said the pair have indicated they will deny the charges against them.
