Police investigating alleged corrupt payments to public officials have arrested a former prison officer.

The 66-year-old man was held in Buckinghamshire on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

He was questioned at a police station in the Thames Valley before being released on bail until May.

He is the 84th person to be arrested in Operation Elveden, the Met Police inquiry into claims journalists paid officials and police for information.

Operation Elveden is being run alongside two other Metropolitan Police inquiries. Operation Weeting is examining allegations of phone hacking while Operation Tuleta is looking at claims of computer hacking and other privacy breaches.
