UK storms: 'Extra resources' to help restore power

5 February 2014 Last updated at 08:02 GMT

Thousands of homes are without power after strong winds and heavy rain hit south-west England and Wales.

Phil Davies, network service manager for Western Power Distribution, has told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that he is "confident" that all power supplies will be restored to homes by the end of 5 February.

He explained that they are sending "extra resources" from Wales and the Midlands to aid the process in the most affected areas.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 5 February 2014.
