UK weather: Wales flood defences take a battering

6 January 2014 Last updated at 11:48 GMT

The main road in Pembrokeshire is now completely closed after the flood defence system got pushed back by the power of the sea.

"Defences have taken such a battering they are unable to cope," the BBC's Arwyn Jones reported.

Officials from Natural Resources Wales had warned him to get out of the flooded car park where he and his team had been based.

"Fairly quickly now, we'll be making a quick getaway," he said.
