UK weather: Huge waves batter Newquay beach

3 January 2014 Last updated at 08:32 GMT

Unusually large waves have hit the coastal town of Newquay in Cornwall during a high tide.

Severe flooding is also expected in parts of the UK as high tides are set to combine with heavy rain and strong winds.

The Environment Agency has issued 21 severe flood warnings - which mean "danger to life" - affecting south-west England, Gloucestershire and Wales.
