Pope Francis has been voted Time Magazine's Person of The Year.

Justin Welby, The Archbishop of Canterbury, when asked by The Today Programme's Sarah Montague whether he agreed with the decision, said: "Yes, I would put him as my person of the year."

He added: "The Pope has been hugely effective, he is an extraordinary man - quite brilliant in what he does. He has changed the sense of direction and purpose of the Church with his personal example and words."

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Tuesday 31 December 2013.
