Why I sympathise with Nigella Lawson - Nancy Dell'Olio

20 December 2013 Last updated at 23:29 GMT

Two former personal assistants of Nigella Lawson and her ex-husband Charles Saatchi have been cleared of fraud.

The three-week trial of Francesca Grillo, 35, and sister Elisabetta, 41, heard they spent £685,000 on credit cards owned by the TV cook and her former husband.

Ms Lawson, 53, said her experience as a witness was "deeply disturbing" and she had been "maliciously vilified".

As some ponder how revelations made in court may affect the TV chef's career, lawyer Nancy Dell'Olio tells BBC Newsnight why she sympathises with Ms Lawson.
