Why are Britons having less sex?

Britons are having less sex today compared to 10 years ago, a survey has found.

A poll of 15,000 Britons found that those aged 16-44 were having sex fewer than five times a month, with modern life and smart gadgets getting the blame.

However the survey also suggests that women today have twice as many sexual partners as they did 10 years ago, and more people are having same-sex encounters.

Feminist writer Kate Smurthwaite told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "Every report historically has said we're having more sex... but the reality is people are busier than they used to be."
