The trial of two men accused of murdering soldier Lee Rigby in Woolwich, south-east London is to start in the next few days, the judge says.

Michael Adebolajo, 28, from Romford, east London, and Michael Adebowale, 22, from Greenwich, south-east London, will stand trial at the Old Bailey.

They are accused of murdering Fusilier Rigby as he walked back to Woolwich barracks on 22 May.

They are also accused of attempting to murder a police officer.

Additionally, the pair face charges of conspiracy to murder a police officer on or before the 22 May.

Both deny all charges.

They appeared at Court 2 of the Old Bailey on Tuesday, separated by security guards.

Mr Adebolajo, who has asked to be known as Mujaahid Abu Hamza in court, was wearing a black shirt in court.

And Mr Adebowale, who wants to be known as Ismail Ibn Abdullah, wore a beige knitted jumper.

Mr Justice Sweeney told the court the trial would start in the "next few days".

The trial will begin following the conclusion of legal submissions by counsel for the prosecution and defence.
