The couple suspected of holding three women as slaves for more than 30 years have been named as Aravindan Balakrishnan and his wife Chanda.

The BBC understands that both were leading figures in a far left communist faction based in Brixton in south London in the 1970s.

The BBC's Home Affairs Correspondent Tom Symonds reports.
