Police release Jimmy Savile interview transcript

15 October 2013 Last updated at 23:08 BST

A transcript of a police interview with Jimmy Savile in 2009, when he answered claims of child abuse dating back to the 1970s, has been released by Surrey Police.

He told officers that he brushed off girls "like midges" and said "the main allegations are completely fictional - in fact they are made up.''

He said they had only surfaced because his accusers were after money.

David Sillito reports.
