BBC pay-offs 'value for money' - Mark Thompson

Controversial severance payments to senior BBC executives were "value for money", according to former director general Mark Thompson.

Mr Thompson told the Public Accounts Committee that if high paid members of staff, such as former deputy director general Mark Byford, had remained in post, the corporation would have not made significant savings to the executive wage bill.
