Fracking: Activists blockade drilling site at Balcombe

19 August 2013 Last updated at 12:23 BST

Activists at a camp in West Sussex, where energy firm Cuadrilla was test-drilling for oil, have chained themselves together and blocked the gates to the company's site.

Cuadrilla has suspended operations in Balcombe, close to where it was carrying out the exploratory drilling.

Green Party MP Caroline Lucas has joined the protesters at the camp, saying she is prepared to be arrested if necessary.

James Pearce reports from Balcombe.
