Johnnie Walker prepares to play Edinburgh Fringe

31 July 2013 Last updated at 08:07 BST

It all began in 1947 when a group of artists turned up uninvited to the Edinburgh International Festival and started hanging out on its "fringes".

Now the Fringe is one of the world's biggest arts festivals.

Radio veteran Johnnie Walker is performing for the first time, and Colin Paterson followed him as he prepared to take to the stage.
