The wife of an SAS sniper who was given a suspended sentence for illegal possession of a pistol and ammunition has said she is "disappointed" at the outcome but "pleased he is coming home".

Sergeant Danny Nightingale, 38, was given two years' detention suspended for 12 months at a court martial hearing in Bulford, Wiltshire.

It is the second time he has been sentenced after his original conviction was overturned on appeal.

Sally Nightingale said the couple would take advice from their lawyers about a possible appeal.
