A farmer from South Tyneside will be competing in the World Ploughing Championship in Canada.

Peter Alderslade from Mundles Farm, East Boldon, has shipped his own tractor and plough across the Atlantic for the competition.

"I'm hoping to be on one of the better plots," he told the Today programme's Sarah Montague. "My ultimate aim is to be in the top three."

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 19 July 2013.
