Owen Paterson: GM presents wonderful opportunity

Genetically modified crops are likely to be safer than conventional plants, according to the Environment Secretary Owen Paterson.

Making the strongest call yet for the adoption of the technology, Mr Paterson says GM has significant benefits for farmers, consumers and the environment.

Speaking to the Today programme, Mr Paterson said: "The next generation of GM offers the most wonderful opportunities to improve human health."
