All but three of those entitled to vote have supported Britain's continued control over the islands. Of 1,517 votes cast in the two-day referendum - on a turnout of more than 90% - 1,513 were in favour.

The BBC's Caroline Wyatt in the Falkland Islands spoke to revellers - including a delighted Neville Hayward - after the result was declared.
