Mandarin speaking Briton to star in a Chinese sitcom
Bilingual Briton Richard Heathcote has beaten off stiff competition to land a role in a new Chinese sitcom, Ciao Britain.
Having studied Mandarin at Sheffield University, 24-year-old, ended up working as a translator even though he always harboured hopes to one day become an actor.
But when the call came for an English actor to play a struggling graduate in a Chinese sitcom Mr Heathcote jumped at the opportunity.
Ciao Britain portrays the lives of Chinese housemates and the English graduate who ends up being the butt of all their jokes.
The pilot for the sitcom has already been filmed in London but the production has now moved to China for final part of filming.
Mishal Husain spoke to Mr. Heathcote on BBC World News.
