Drivers trapped on East Yorkshire hill

Dozens of drivers have been trapped by snow on high ground in East Yorkshire.

The A1079 Arras Hill at Market Weighton was closed in both directions after heavy snowfall and a four-vehicle accident, leading to long delays.

Humberside Police said some drivers abandoned their cars while others were waiting for conditions to improve.

Snow ploughs and gritters brought in to clear the route also became trapped for a time. The road is the main route between York and Hull.

Police and drivers spoke to the BBC about the conditions.
