Snow strands travellers and BBC crew on Mendip Hills
Drivers and a BBC crew were stranded in Somerset on the Mendip Hills after heavy snowfall blocked a key road in both directions.
Fresh snowfall is causing further disruption across the UK after a fifth day of sub-zero temperatures and icy conditions.
Hundreds of schools across the UK were closed, flights at some UK airports have been cancelled or delayed and roads and rail networks have also been affected.
Further snow is expected in southern England and parts of Scotland and Wales overnight and into Wednesday.
Jon Kay reports.
