UK snow: Band of snow begins to spread

There is a layer of snow covering many parts of the UK, with forecasters warning of icy conditions and more snow to come overnight.

The Met Office has issued an amber warning, meaning 'be prepared', for North East England. But so far there has been less disruption than feared.

Parts of Scotland are also seeing heavy snowfall, with Aberdeenshire worst hit.
