Tens of thousands of homes left empty despite council waiting lists

There are thought to be 850,000 empty houses in the UK, despite thousands of families waiting to be assigned a home by their council.

Lancashire has the highest rate of vacant properties in England, and now some private investors are hoping to breathe new life into abandoned housing stock.
