The government commissioned a report into banking, chaired by Sir John Vickers. It reported last year, and forms the basis of the changes to the banking system that the government plans to implement.

Speaking on The World at One, Sir John Vickers told presenter Shaun Ley that the "parliamentary report will reinforce [the government's report] so it can work as robustly as possible."
