Lord Patten: 'Heads on spikes' won't resolve BBC issues
The BBC's problems will not be addressed by sacking senior members of the management team according to the chairman of the BBC Trust.
Lord Patten was asked why "no heads had rolled" in the wake of two reports severely criticising the corporation.
The first report was critical of the way Newsnight dropped its investigation into Jimmy Savile and the second was critical of the way the programme subsequently broadcast false allegations about Lord McAlpine.
Lord Patten said the issues would not be resolved by "putting heads on spikes."
