Census 2011: UK population change

The UK population is estimated to have reached about 63.2 million in 2011, four million more than recorded in the 2001 census.

The graphic below, from the ONS Data Visualisation Centre, allows you to compare the size and structure of the local population in different areas of the UK - and shows how things have changed. Use the dropdown menus to select areas and see the data change.
