Ash dieback: New device tests trees for disease

Portable DNA tests, that quickly diagnose ash dieback, are now being used in an effort to stop the spread of the deadly fungus.

Results of a nationwide survey into how widely ash dieback has spread are expected on Wednesday, many hope British trees will be more resistant to infection.

Meanwhile, tree growers will be meeting government representatives to discuss their entitlement to compensation, amid claims that not enough was done to prevent the spread of a disease.
