Gary McKinnon's MP has praised the Home Secretary's decision to block his constituent's extradition to the United States over the hacking of military computers.

David Burrowes thanked Theresa May for "saving my constituent's life". Mr McKinnon, 46, has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, and faced 60 years in jail if convicted in the US.

Mr Burrowes described the decision as "a victory for compassion" and called for "a return to the principles of justice and fair play" in extradition.
