Manchester funeral of murdered police officer Nicola Hughes

Help

The funeral of PC Nicola Hughes is to be held at Manchester Cathedral on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old Greater Manchester Police officer died alongside her colleague PC Fiona Bone last month.

The constables were killed in a gun and grenade attack after being called to investigate a burglary in Mottram.

Police have urged members of the public to join officers in lining the route as the funeral cortege passes along Deansgate. The service in the cathedral is private but will be broadcast on a screen in Cathedral Gardens for people gathered outside.
