Morpeth on flood alert as river levels rise

Homes have been evacuated and train services disrupted, as heavy downpours continue across parts of the UK.

Northumbria Police said people had been evacuated from 80 homes in Morpeth in Northumberland as a precaution.

Heavy and persistent rain is forecast to continue, the Environment Agency said.
