Stricter rules on energy firm fines
Gas and electricity companies will have to pay compensation directly to customers if they get bills wrong or mis-sell products, under new regulations.
The energy watchdog Ofgem could previously only impose fines payable to the Treasury, but will now be able to force firms to make payments to customers.
