Police officer dies in 'routine' Manchester incident
Assistant Chief Constable Garry Shewan has said a female police officer died during an operation to arrest a man in Tameside, Greater Manchester.
He said: "This is a heartbreaking time for the officers' families and colleagues and our thoughts are with them."
A second female police officer died shortly after the news conference.
Dale Cregan, wanted in connection with a gun and grenade murder in Clayton, has been arrested.
