River Trent flood defence scheme to open in Nottingham

A three year project to raise flood barriers along a 27km (16 miles) stretch of the River Trent is nearly complete, according to the Environment Agency.

The £45m scheme will protect 16,000 homes on the river's north bank around Nottingham.

Flooding in 2000 damaged hundreds of homes and businesses in the area.

Anthony Bartram reports.
