Doreen Wright's WWII diary to missing husband published

12 September 2012 Last updated at 10:26 BST

A diary written in World War II by a Warwickshire woman to her husband who was missing in action has been published using a lottery grant.

Doreen Wright was told that her husband Gilbert's plane had been shot down over France, in May 1940.

She refused to give up hope and wrote her diary to him for two years, until she was told he had been shot by German soldiers when he crashed.

Her diary has been published with the title She Could Not Have Loved More.

The diaries were undiscovered for more than 70 years.

Lindsay Doyle reports.
