French shootings: Police probe Saad al-Hilli murder motive

Help

French prosecutors are to travel to the UK to interview the brother of a man who was among four people fatally shot near Lake Annecy in France on Wednesday.

One line of inquiry being considered is the possibility of an alleged disagreement between Saad and Zaid al-Hilli over an inheritance.

French police told a press conference on Friday that Zaid al-Hilli went to the police after he heard media reports of the deaths - first to ask about his brother's condition, and then, on Friday, to deny reports of a dispute.

Surrey police say they are "co-operating" with the French authorities.

Daniel Boettcher reports.
