Investigation into burglary row judge

Help

A judge who provoked furious complaints when he said burglary took "a huge amount of courage" will be investigated by the judicial watchdog.

Judge Peter Bowers reportedly made the comment in a Teeside court as he sentenced 26-year-old Richard Rochford for burglary.

Mr Rochford who stole from three homes on the same street in five days, was given a two-year supervision order with drug rehabilitation and 200 hours' unpaid work, and a one-year driving ban.

Ed Thomas reports.
