How the Paralympic Games began

The origins of the Paralympics can be traced back to a German Jew who fled the Nazis before the outbreak of the Second World War.

When Dr Ludwig Guttmann arrived in Britain, he started a spinal unit for injured servicemen and soon realised sport could help rebuild their lives.

From that evolved the Paralympics, as Nick Higham reports.
