Council cuts: Are rats still on the run?

Help

There are concerns that the UK could be facing a growing pest control problem. Homeowners have been warned to watch out for rats flushed out of overflowing sewers by recent heavy rainfall.

Council cutbacks mean that since 2010, 29 local authorities have stopped providing pest control services entirely.

BBC Panorama's Simon Boazman has been investigating whether the squeeze on council budgets could affect our ability to keep pest numbers down.

Panorama: Rats, traps, bugs and cutbacks, BBC Two, Monday, 6 August at 20:30 BST then available in the UK on the BBC iPlayer.
