Green: PCS union trying to conceal u-turn
The Immigration Minister, Damian Green, said he was glad the PCS union had "seen sense" and called off the industrial action by some Home Office workers, including border staff.
A 24 hour strike was due to begin at midnight on Wednesday, on the eve of the Olympics.
The union's general secretary, Mark Serwotka, said significant progress had been made in meetings with Home Office officials on Tuesday night, including the promise of 1,100 new jobs.
Mr Green said the union was simply trying to conceal the fact it had done a U-turn.
