London 2012: G4S 'only knew eight days ago' of staff shortage
The chief executive of G4S has said he only discovered his company would not be able to provide enough security guards for the Olympics in the past nine days.
Nick Buckles apologised and said his company would now make a loss of up to £50m on the contract.
Thousands of troops are having to be drafted in to provide security for the Games.
