Doreen Lawrence hopes review will lead to inquiry
Doreen Lawrence says she hopes the review of the original police investigation into her son Stephen's murder 18 years ago in south London, ordered by the home secretary, will "open the door into an inquiry."
It is almost six months since Gary Dobson and David Norris were convicted of the murder of 18-year-old Stephen. But Doreen Lawrence said it still had not properly sunk in that people had finally faced justice over her son's murder.
You can hear Doreen Lawrence speaking to Kirsty Young on Radio 4's Desert Island Discs on Sunday 10 June at 11:15 BST (FM) or 10:00 BST (Long Wave), repeated Friday 15 June at 09:00 BST. Listen again at the above link or browse the extensive Desert Island Discs archive.
