Julian Assange loses Supreme Court extradition appeal

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has lost his Supreme Court fight against extradition to Sweden to face accusations of sex offences.

The court's president, Lord Phillips, told the hearing the appeal was dismissed because "the request for Mr Assange's extradition has been lawfully made".

In response Mr Assange's lawyer, Dinah Rose QC, spoke of her concerns about the judgement and requested a period of time to consult her client and consider an appeal.

Julian Assange is accused of raping one woman and "sexually molesting and coercing" another in Stockholm in August 2010, although he claims that the allegations against him are politically motivated.
