Olympic torch: Beckham lights flame for 2012 torch relay

Help

The Olympic flame has landed in the UK on board a flight from Athens, ready for the London 2012 torch relay.

The plane touched down at a Cornish air base just before 19:30BST carrying Princess Anne, Locog chairman Lord Coe and footballer David Beckham.

Flight BA2012, a gold-coloured A319 named The Firefly, was greeted at RNAS Culdrose by cheering crowds.

Once a London 2012 torch had been lit on the tarmac, David Beckham used it to light a cauldron, celebrating the flame's arrival on UK soil.
