'Very serious offence' facing Rebekah Brooks
Rebekah Brooks and her husband, Charlie, are being charged with perverting the course of justice as part of the phone hacking inquiry.
Three of Mrs Brooks's staff, and News International security head Mark Hanna are also charged with the offence.
Mrs Brooks is facing three charges of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice while her husband faces two.
Legal correspondent Clive Coleman said perverting the course of justice was a ''very serious offence'' in the eyes of the law.
