Food labelling consultation to begin

Help

A consultation will begin on Monday aimed at making food labelling simpler so people can monitor the amount of salt, sugar and fat they eat.

Many supermarkets and food manufacturers have their own systems, ranging from traffic lights to pie charts and percentages of daily guideline amounts.

They will be asked their views on the best way to label nutritional content to help the government create one simple single method to be used across the UK.

Dominic Hughes reports.
