78-year-old will have sex change operation on NHS
A 78-year-old from East Sussex is due to become the oldest person in the UK to have a sex change operation on the NHS.
Ruth Rose, who will have turned 80 before the operation takes place in 2013, has spent most of her life known as James Rose. She was previously married, and has three children and four grandchildren.
Ms Rose told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire about the decision to go through with the operation so late in life.
