Rupert Murdoch at Leveson: Hitler Diaries 'major mistake'
Rupert Murdoch has told the Leveson Inquiry into media ethics that publishing the Hitler Diaries in 1983 was a 'major mistake' which he would have to live with for the rest of his life.
A German magazine believed it had found Hitler's wartime diary. It sold the rights to other papers including the Times in London. The diary was later revealed to be a hoax.
