The Diamond Jubilee: Events calendar

A wide range of events marked the Queen's 60-year reign. Major celebrations took place on an extended Bank Holiday weekend on 2, 3, 4 and 5 June. This is a round-up of those key events, with links to official websites where available.

Royal tours - World	Global	Throughout 2012	During the Jubilee year, members of the Royal Family are travelling overseas representing the Queen. These include a visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Malaysia, Singapore, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu. Prince Harry has visited Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas (2-8 March). Key events already held in honour of the Queen
Commonwealth Day	Westminster Abbey, London	12 March	The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Countess of Wessex, and Prime Minister David Cameron attended the Commonwealth Day Observance Service to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee along with 1,000 schoolchildren. Soprano Laura Wright performed a new song, Stronger as One.
Diamond Jubilee Pageant	Windsor Castle, Berkshire	10-13 May	Three evening performances featured military and equestrian displays, music and dancing from around the world.
Armed Forces Military Muster	Windsor Castle, Berkshire	19 May	Thousands of members of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force took part in a parade and flypast to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The event was designed to reflect the close relationship between the Queen and the armed forces. More than 2,500 servicemen and women marched past the Queen in Windsor Castle before mustering in an arena. A flypast of 78 current and historic aircraft, including helicopters and the Red Arrows closed the event.
Epsom Derby	Epsom Downs racecourse, Surrey	2 June	The Queen's first engagement of the central Diamond Jubilee weekend was her attendance of the Epsom Derby on its second day.
The Big Lunch	Nationwide	3 June	People all over the UK were encouraged to share lunch with neighbours and friends in street parties or picnics to bring communities together and celebrate the Jubilee.
Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant	River Thames, London	3 June	More than a million people lined the banks of the River Thames in spite of the rain to watch some 1,000 boats from the UK and the Commonwealth countries escort the Queen on a royal barge down the River Thames. One of the largest flotillas ever assembled on the river, the pageant aimed to reflect the UK's maritime heritage and travelled from Putney to Tower Bridge. Navigate the pageant High-definition image
Diamond Jubilee BBC Concert	Buckingham Palace, London	4 June	The BBC, and music maestro Gary Barlow, brought together some of the biggest names from the worlds of music, dance and musical theatre - including Shirley Bassey, Alfie Boe, Jools Holland, Jessie J, JLS, Elton John, Tom Jones, Lang Lang, Annie Lennox, Madness, Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Cliff Richard, Ed Sheeran and Stevie Wonder. The concert was broadcast live on BBC ONE and Radio 2.
Diamond Jubilee Beacons	UK and worldwide	4 June	More than 4,000 beacons were lit in the UK and around the world to mark 60 years of the Queen's reign.
Service of thanksgiving, Diamond Jubilee lunch, carriage procession, balcony appearance	St Paul's Cathedral, London Westminster Hall, London	5 June	The final day of the Diamond Jubilee weekend was marked by a national service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral attended by the Queen who was without the Duke of Edinburgh who was unwell. This was followed by a reception at Mansion House for the Queen. She then attended a Diamond Jubliee lunch at Westminster Hall organised by the Livery. The route from Westminster to Buckingham Palace was lined with thousands of well-wishers as the Queen and other senior members of the Royal Family travelled in a formal . After a 60-gun salute at Buckingham Palace, the Royal Family appeared on the balcony to wave to the crowds and watch an RAF flypast and a Feu de Joie - a cascade of rife fire - by The Queen's Guard.
