Hartley Colliery pit disaster is remembered
A special service will take place to mark the 150th anniversary of one of Britain's worst Victorian mining disasters, at Hartley Colliery.
On 16 January 1862, a total of 204 men and boys suffocated when their only means of escape was blocked by an accident.
Some of those who died in the pit disaster were just 10 years old, and what happened led to significant changes in mine safety.
The BBC's Danny Savage reports.
